At Janky Painting & Toilet Company LLC, we take the position that the Toilet is one of the most underrated, beautiful, and essential elements of our modern civilization. It is therefore imperative - in order to showcase its true cultural value both in terms of infrastructural necessity as well as aesthetic elegance - that the Toilet comes out of the [water] closet. By pairing and comparing it with art, fashion, and design, we give the toilet a new pathway to a free and open position within the public dialogue and view.
By merging the Toilet with and inserting it into the public at large, a public which it dutifully and frankly rather thanklessly serves, we are allowed the heretofore unseen vantage of its true significance and indeed ubiquity.
And when we witness the Toilet in a public and open setting, we are then forced to broach many issues of suppression, taboo, stigma, and even public health; conversations which when undertaken with ourselves and others will increasingly offer us - individually and collectively - a mental catharsis, one that in poetic fashion is perfectly analogous and also complimentary to the physical relief offered by the object itself, the one which has been deemed by some as “The Porcelain God”.
